Vintage Coalport Lidded Sauce Tureen!

Fabulous antique English porcelain sauce tureen designed by Coalport for the iconic Thomas Goode & Co of London! Set includes the petite tureen, handled lid, and the oblong under-plate. Set presents the fabulous Broseley Dragon pattern in red that has been beautifully hand-painted onto each vessel. Set was designed to be sold at Thomas Goode & Co. as indicated by maker's marks on bottom of tureen. A singular piece with impeccable craftsmanship!

My research revealed that the Broseley Dragon pattern was created by Caughley Porcelain during the late 18th century, and when John Rose of Coalport purchased Caughley, the pattern was continued to be produced by Coalport.

The iconic Thomas Goode & Co. was established in 1845 in Mayfair, England. It became known as London's foremost tableware emporium, as William Goode, (the son of Thomas) was known to travel the world in search of the finest porcelain pieces and had many of Europe's finest families as customers.

Measurements / Condition:

Tureen: 7" long by 4"wide
Under-plate: 8 1/4" long by 6 1/2" wide

All of the pieces are in very nice condition for age, with the pattern remaining bold and vivid. There are a few areas of mottling, crazing, pops in the ceramic, light peppering, and a few small spots of discoloration to the interior. There is also a very small hairline crack to the interior of tureen near top rim, as shown in last photo.
