Large Vintage Oil Painting!
Marvelous original oil painting dated 1967 and signed by the artist in the lower right corner. An extremely charming harbor scene depicting Gloucester, Massachusetts with a warm, saturated color palette and deliberate, textured brushstrokes. Painting is simple and a bit naive, yet reminiscent in style and color tones to Van Gogh's Boats du Rhône (Rhone Boats) and Fishing Boats on the Beach Saintes-Maries. Painting is surrounded in a solid wood frame with a gold oil rubbed finish. An absolutely lovely composition!
Framed: 30" wide by 23 1/2" tall
Painting is an oil on hardboard, signed HS Hurlbut and dated 1967. Painting is in wonderful vintage condition with a few minimal spots of surface wear and light patina to oil. The frame is an oil rubbed gold wood frame that is in very nice vintage condition. On the back of painting is written "No. 56, Gloucester, Mass."
